Gift bags or bonbonnieres have been around since the 16th century, when aristocrats would give small tokens of their esteem to guests at a wedding in thanks for attending their auspicious occasion. It was generally considered good luck to give a gift of sugar coated almonds to represent fertility, health, wealth, happiness and longevity, but nowadays a bonbonniere can be just about anything from photo frames, heart candy in a jar, candles or chocolates.
It’s not only weddings that get in on the gift giving either – if you were a classic 90’s kid like me then you will remember receiving a small plastic bag filled with lollies on your way out of your classmate’s bash. Well, gift giving hasn’t gone out of style, but the bags have certainly become more stylish. Here are a few unique ideas of what to stuff your gift bags with for your next wedding of birthday bash:

Plush toys work excellently if you are having a birthday party for children, but they also work really well for an animal party as well! I bought my dog’s best friends all a Peter Alexander plush turkey leg dog toy for Buddy’s 4th birthday party and they went down a treat.
The good news as well is that plush toys are available in heaps of different shapes, sizes and styles, so you can find the perfect teddy bear for a teddy bear’s picnic themed party, a stuffed octopus for your under the sea themed party, or even a creepy haunted doll to scare your friends at your next Halloween bash.
Signature Scented Candles
In the similar way that soaps are a versatile gift idea, candles work just as well for something a little heavier for your guests. We had one of my closest friends Soy by Sophie create a signature lime and coconut fragrance candle to send out as our save the dates, and this gave our entire wedding a signature scent, a lasting memory, and a cherished keepsake.
You’ll be sure to find something that works with your theme and style of your party over with the delightful Glasshouse Fragrances. With candles that smell like pink frosting, or named after spectacular carnivals, you will be sure to find something great!
