For those who love a good traditional Christmas you will be very familiar with the idea of drinking Eggnog – a dairy based alcoholic drink that is popular amongst Western cultures during the festive season. It’s an absolutely delicious drink to sip on during carolling, so I thought I would share with you one of the best Eggnog recipes around for you to try at home!
Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 cup caster sugar
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup dark rum
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 1 cup thickened cream
- A healthy heaping of ground nutmeg, to serve
Method:
-
Place eggs, sugar and milk in a saucepan over a medium-low heat and whisk until the ingredients are combined. Stir constantly for 6 – 8 minutes or until the mixture thickens and coats the back of the spoon. Remove from heat and stir in the rum, brandy and half of the measured cream.
- Beat theĀ remaining cream in a bowl until soft peaks start to form. Pour the cooked egg mixture into appropriate heatproof glasses and top with the remaining cream. Sprinkle with nutmeg and serve.
And there you have it – a really easy way to get yourself into the holiday spirit by downing a few of these delicious bad boys!
